Organisers
The International Competition for Intermedia Artwork is organised by the Faculty of Intermedia at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and the Foundation for the Development of Intermedia Art, operated by the Faculty.
Organiser
The Faculty of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków was founded in 2012. The faculty of Intermedia and its curriculum span the categories of “new media” and “audiovisual production”, but this designation does not adequately express what we have experienced and intended as the most constructive element that makes our project able to promote growth and stimulate civilizational progress. A great majority of these new courses aim to educate and inspire students to combine traditional artistic aspirations with a new technological and semantic toolbox, and to expand on the traditional conception and function of art. Graduates are equally well equipped to work as freelancers and join project and production teams using state-of-the-art technologies.
Organisational collaboration
The Foundation for the Development of Intermedial Art was established to support the circles and initiatives of artists engaged in creating interdisciplinary, intermedial art, who conduct research, teach, and foster inter-community and international cooperation in the field. One of its statutory objectives is to connect the academic world with its broader social and economic environment in the greatest possible spectrum of activities. At the moment, the Foundation is working to support an important cultural endeavour in Kraków.
Opcja Gallery is the gallery of the Faculty of Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. The gallery was established in 2013. The space is primarily intended for student activities and presentations, and as an area of activity for teaching studios. The gallery is also open for presentations of interesting projects from outside the Academy such as festivals, lectures, shows or competitions. The gallery’s curator is Mariusz Sołtysik. Between 2013 and 2022, 49 exhibitions were held.
